From Myth to Paper: A Storytelling Art Class
Step into a world of myth and winter magic in this unique drawing class that blends folklore with artistic technique. Led by artist and storyteller Carrie Finnigan, this three-session course will introduce you to legendary winter beings from Norse, Celtic, and Lakota traditions. Through storytelling, cultural exploration, and hands-on drawing exercises, you’ll develop your skills while bringing these mystical figures to life on paper.
This class meets on three consecutive Thursday evenings—March 13, 20, and 27. Please bring paper, pencils, and an eraser as you embark on this artistic journey.
Each session will explore one of the following mythological entities:
🎨 Skadi – The Norse goddess of winter, bowhunting, and skiing, responsible for shaping the icy landscapes.
🎨 Cailleach – The Gaelic divine hag of winter, a powerful force behind storms and the rugged northern terrain.
🎨 Waziya – The Lakota North Wind, who brings snow as both a blessing and a challenge, shaping the rhythm of the seasons.
As you listen to their stories and learn about their cultural significance, you’ll engage in guided drawing exercises to refine your manual control and train your eye to observe and interpret both imagination and reality.
