Special Screening: Songs of Earth with Director Margreth Olin

  • The Main Cinema (The Main 3) 115 Southeast Main Street Minneapolis, MN, 55414 United States (map)

The 43rd Annual Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival featured quite a few Norwegian films this year, including Songs of Earth—the Norwegian entry for The Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards!

As part of the MSPIFF43 Official Selection, there will be a special screening on May 19, 2024 with Director Margreth Olin and Lori Ann Reinhall, Editor-in-Chief of The Norwegian American.

Songs of Earth will officially open on May 31, 2024 at The Main Cinema.

Songs of Earth was obviously  a genuine labor of love on behalf of Margreth Olin, renowned filmmaker and expert editor.  This is not merely a figure of speech, either, for she is the daughter of Jørgen and his wife, Magnhild. Olin clearly, and deeply, both admires and reveres her parents. This is a couple, decades-wed, who authentically appear more utterly enamored with each other as each precious day passes.” —John Smistad, The Norwegian American

”Made for the big screen, the film, like a zen koan, is an experiential meditation that washes over its viewers. It’s a stunningly cinematic work about life, death, nature and simply being present in the world.” —Alissa Simon, MSP Film
